The Regional Library of Tavannes provides 21,000 documents, relaxation areas, a newspaper & coffee corner as well as a large range of events.
The Tavannes Regional Library presents a collection of around 21,000 items for children and adults: novels, documentaries, comic books, films, electronic books, manga, albums, FALC (easy to read), large-print novels and a few foreign-language books... The library is a meeting place which is located in the exceptional ‘Le Royal’ cultural centre, which also houses a games library, cinema, café and theatre. Visitors can linger in the relaxation areas or use the computer station to carry out research. The library also places a particular emphasis on entertainment.
A show (such as storytelling, clowning or a workshop) is organised one Sunday a month. There are also a number of monthly events on the programme: intercultural meetings, “parents' cafés”, “born to read”, a book club for 9-12 year olds, and a rhetoric class with teenagers. From January 2025, a café-reading event for the elderly and a craft-reading activity for the little ones will complete the offer. The library also organises regular exhibitions and welcomes around 172 school visits a year outside its usual opening hours.
